??? I dont even think he is a honda dealer anymore. also the engine is the same weight as the 100hp and this costs a wopping £200 ,more i.e. 200 quid for an extra 20hp. If you can get a price for the boat only today and a price for the package call me as there were a few Honda 80's and 100 on special offer. your worst case if you call me I can give you a price so that you can keep him honest!

Thanks i'll give you a call when i'm ready to order to get some advice to inform my purchase negotiations, have to get my holiday home sold first as need to release those funds for the purchase.

Don't suppose anyone on here wants to buy a 6 bedroom 3 storey detatched house on 1/4 acre of land 10 mins walk from a golden sand beach on the Black Sea in Odessa Oblast, Ukraine do they? only $150,000 US

We have had a couple of nibbles from Russians and Ukrainians but not sold yet. I suspect come spring will be a lot more interest as the area it's in is very popular for Ukrainians, Russians, and other CIS countries as the summer gets to high 30's/low 40's celsius and the beaches are gorgeous.

You may ask why Ukraine, well my wife was born in Odessa.

Hi,

Whilst crossing the channel in your own boat does sound like a very exciting and satisfying achievement, there's a few reasons why trailing it by ferry can make for better holidays.
You don't have to wait for windows in the weather, either way, so you know exactly when you will be crossing, which is essential if you are tied to school holidays.
Arriving at a new destination from seaward is great, but you have to find transport on land if you want to explore further than the immediate port area.
Your insurance may not cover you for a channel crossing, mine says I must use either the chunnel or ferry.

I found having road transport at hand at a base port ( St Quay Portrieux in N Brittanny both times) really convenient for day trips ashore when the weather wasn't up to boating, for shopping and fuel trips, for storing excess baggage, and especially for trips to chandlers when i needed spares. As for storing trailers, many boatyards are happy to look after them for a few weeks for 10-20 euros.

Have you thought of the Shetland Black Prince as an option? I have one with an 120hp Volvo inboard which I currently use on river but am planning to cross the channel with in two years time. I will be looking to carry something like a 8hp auxillary outboard as well.

The Black Prince was according to Shetland their most over engineered boat and there are currently a number of decent looking ones for sale in both petrol and diesel. Having viewed some 4+2s beforehand i can confirm the GRP layup is much thicker on the Black Prince. Mine has a 90ltr tank but I have seen some with 200ltr fuel tanks. They have a similar layout inside as the 4+2 and have 5'11" head room.

The only issue would be that you would need a 4x4 capable of towing over 3 tonnes as they weigh over two tonnes and the trailer would weigh another 500kgs. I have a twin axle roller coaster trailer which makes launching and retrieving a breeze.

You could always use two props as some people I know carry a sea prop and river prop.
