This new free magazine on "affordable" motorboats may be of interest to some if you haven't seen it already:

It seems to be aimed more at the DIY motor boat owner, so with PBO becoming more sailing-oriented it might fill a gap in the market. It seems the editors might have been previously with MBM.

You would have thought that they would have had an archive of past issues, but they don't seem to. It might be worth contacting them.

Failing that, and depending on copyright, if you pm me I could send you PDFs of the previous issues I downloaded. I haven't seen any copyright statements.

Since it's openly available on the net there can't be any copyright issues.
Can't find any earlier issues.
The similarities in content and layout are very similar to another powerboat magazine, which I subscribe to.
If this new (web) publication can continue without endless tests of megabucks virility statements that'll be fine by me.

Agreed, let's hope that it can keep its focus on that end of the market, and that its business model is sustainable!

Many thanks for your comments in this thread.

I would like to address a couple of points raised if I may.

We are looking into archiving older issues, so hope that that is something that will be up and running in the near future.

In the meantime there is no problem sending pdfs between each other via email etc, although contrary to popular belief the work is copyrighted. It looks like we may need to emphasise that point on our website, so this is something that we will be changing during the current month, just to clarify.

Our plan is continue producing a magazine that is aimed at the area of the market that contains practical and affordable content. Obviously one man's affordable is another's lottery win, but the kind of content seen in the first four issues is pretty much where we see our market.

Hi everyone

Having talked to Neale at MBO about this off-line, the important thing is that, for MBO to remain sustainable and free, it needs its advertisers. In turn the advertisers want to know how many people are accessing the magazine, and the number of subscribers and downloads from the MBO site give an indication of this.

Since MBO don't yet have their archive set up for past issues, Neale is happy for the Oct/Nov/Dec issues to remain available for people to access, but has asked me to not show the Jan issue as that should encourage people to subscribe and so boost the numbers they provide to the advertisers. In my view, this is entirely reasonable, so I have removed the Jan issue.

In the meantime, they are working on setting up their archive, and will also be clarifying copyright issues in subsequent issues.

Also, they are always on the lookout for any interesting boat ownership stories, so if there is anyone on the Shetland Owners Association forum that has a story to tell, maybe a renovation or some clever modifications or such like, they would love to maybe get them in the mag too.

i sent a mail to Motorboat Owner ([email protected]).
They sent me the three missing one for me.
I stored the ebooks in google drive in my private storage.
As i understand the work is copyrighted so if someone want a copy send a mail
to Motorboat Owner ([email protected]).
i m agree with Neale , we have to get the ebooks by the intermediary of their website.
This is a modest contribution but it increases the traffic on their website in order to claim future advertisements, I think.
We must not forget that the magazine is free
