SHETLAND OWNERS ASSOCIATION

Hi All

I'm new to the boat buying scene, thinking of buying a Family 4 + 2 (Hardtop), 10 years old with fitted waste and fuel tank, hot water, shower, fridge, 25HP Honda outboard. I'm trying to get a feel for for what I should expect to pay for this (it needs a new safety certificate and is not licensed).

Any thoughts/suggestions appreciated !

We need a bit more info or you will need to call me as there are so many things to consider

age of engine and last service
trailer including type
extra's ie, canopy, fishfinder VHF
condition of boat etc

Hi....go to W H Smiths and use their free library facilities to look up similar boats in magazines such a Boat Mart. Also look on Apolloduck on the internet to see similar boats for sale. Theres plenty of 4 + 2s for sale on the internet. I live on the River Thames and you can look at them at local boatyards to get some idea. Some basic info is.....have you considered a soft top 4 + 2. Mine has a cassette toilet which is easy to empty almost anywhere (legally) and costs me nothing. When I was buying at first I did not realise there are two different widths of these craft, As I do not use the narrow canals the wider version gave me much more space. Look at a few boats before you make your decision...and when you get it...enjoy !

as a four plus two owner myself i thought the only options were either a hard or soft top, maybe other 4+2 owners could either confirm or deny that different widths are available !

I've recently taken delivery of a brand new 4+2 soft top and I can confirm its only made in one width 2.5m

Our 2007 4+2 is also 2.5 wide...

I have seen and stood aboard both width Shetland 4 + 2 one was narrow suitable for travelling on canals with narrow locks and the other like my own was the wider version. I do not know if brand new 4 + 2s come in two different widths but the older models certainly did. Andrew "Blue Hunter"
