Can I change my boat's name or while bad luck and gremlins find us? If so, how can I stop this?

I think you can only perform a name change on a full moon wearing just your under crackers and a crown of garlic

mmmmm well if you listen and believe all the stories like we do then please never invite us out.

We have a 610 called snagglepuss and though I get made fun off, this is a lot better than drowning

I imagine your method would be sufficient. I think the author of this article has shares in a champagne company.

We changed our 535 name and were told at the time by the boat yard that if the boat was out of the water then we did it, we shouldn't have a "problem", worked for us!! When we got our 570 last Autumn she didn't have a name on her, as she was launched I quietly muttered her new name, we drank some "fizz" whilst she was moored up at the pontoon and splashed a bit on her..... it was only then that we noticed the slight imprint of what had obviously been "stick on letters" of a previous name!! So far so good!!

All entries made me chuckle. We changed the name of our new (old 640) last year after she had been completely overhauled or "refitted" as she was lowered into the water for her maiden vogage with us (Shetland solent rally 2010) we toasted happy day days ahead with a couple of bottles of the bubbly stuff. She was called Drifter by her previous owner, but we didn't want any of that kind of bad behaviour from her, so have renamed her Bubbles. The name suits her new looks and hull colour, also She hasn't really drifted since, and has been a reliable and well behaved old girl at sea. regards Chris and Chris

I'll have to search round and see if I can find any transfer imprints to discover my Blackhawks previous name.
Then it will be time for the renaming ceremony:

Best not sail until the next day though

According to some old paperwork my Blackhawk's named Sandstorm, can't say I'm a great fan of the name but it's not printed on her anyway. Really need to come up with a new one, mmmm time to get the thinking cap on

If anyone's after new name decals give us a shout, producing these things is part of my job
