Well collected "Sally" on Tuesday and she now awaits some major TLC!! I will try and post pics of progress but I envisage this will be a long project.

She seems to have the perennial problem of waterlogged foam under the cockpit floor, noticed this via the table mount which was not fixed or sealed in place. She has obviously seem some action as her bow has suffered impact damage but seems to have been repaired quite well. Superstructure seems to be original cream and the hull has been painted white. Love her lines and know she will bring hours of frustration to start but ultimate joy!!

Feel free to give unsolicited advice, the more the merrier!! Looking for a trailer so if you hear of any let me know. Been researching the site and there are some excellent posts, hope to contribute.

Rear deck removed as foam waterlogged and parts of ply deck rotted
All fittings removed ready for sanding, more sanding, filling, sanding and painting

She really is a blank canvas now and very keen to do this properly so any ideas on what to add, any possible enhancements I can do will be most welcome.

Cant see her on the water next season as I will have to wait for warmer weather before fibreglassing and painting but looking forward to the task!

Looks like you have a mighty task ahead, I am in the same boat, well nearly, mine is a 610,in much the same state, I look forward to seeing your pics

Right, back!!

after finally getting some good weather and being on leave the project has restarted.

after much wailing and gnashing of teeth I have bitten the bullet and removed the whole of the interior deck and superstructure. The reason for this is that the more I removed the further the damp foam went so decided to do a "proper job".

Experiential learning -

Worx sonic crafter tool is brilliant for getting to all the bits that need cutting out; used this to roughly remove the deck and bulkhead, this left a seam of fibreglass all round the inside of the hull where the deck had been glassed in. To remove this I used a 4.5" grinder with a 40 grit flap disk suitable for metal. This was superb and the job completed in about 3 hours.

Sally is now just a fibreglass shell and I plan to install the new deck this summer. I am proposing to do the following and any advice or alternatives would be welcome - 3/4" ply, coated, glassed over, will probably use small balls instead of the foam as suggested on a post on here for flotation.

thought mine was bare but you have gone one stage further

At least you can have the interior exactly how you want it configuring.

The floor will be fine as you are proposing, you could save some money by using external ply, not marine for the floor and then polyester resin.

will save you a fortune as the floor will eat resin when you are glassing it top and bottom.

east coast fibreglass are the cheapest for resin supplies etc

Bulkhead and console were carefully cut out so will go straight back in, famous last words!!

Good job so far! You may be able to pick up a tip or two from my 535 refurb step by step thread.

Hi dij66,you say in one of your posts you found the floor was rotten and taken out,because of water ingress ,did you actually sus out where the water had come from? Cheers Magicflack.
