SHETLAND OWNERS ASSOCIATION

Hi Guys

Can anyone let me have details of the type of lock on the Shetland 535 Cabin Door, mine had a hideous combination bolt that the previous owner forgot the combination to and installed using security screws. This is now off! But I want to replace it with something that looks nice, I have seen a few with what looks like a patio door / double glazed door handle and lock, and I can't see what the lock is that Shetland supply as their picture is not too clever. Any ideas, a fe pictures if possible if you could PM these as I can't always see pictures on the forum for some reason!

Hi,My Shetland Mk 2 had a slot cut into the door to form the hasp with the clasp screwed to the frame.I just put a hook through to keep the door closed. My brother and I keep our boats in a Cornish harbour where the public has access to the boats at low water.One night we were visited by thieves,my boat had no damage and just needed a tidy up. My brother had a similar door lock to the one you described and spent the next few weekends repairing damage to the door and frame.Crooks will get in no matter what, so I think it`s best to leave the boat unlocked but with nothing of value.
