Hi everyone ...After craning out of the Thames at the end of season I always hate the below rubbing strip to water line clean. This year it was a piece of cake !!! First washed the top of boat to remove leaves and some leaf stains scrubbed decks. Then my master stroke !!!! I take no responsibility if you follow my example but for me it worked a treat. I bought a 5 litre can of cement and patio cleaner from local builders merchant cost just over a tenner. (used less than a litre of this for whole job) Then suitably goggled / rubber gloved /booted and masked I poured one litre into a spray container. I sprayed about 1 1/2 square metres of boat. Left solution on for about one minute or so then scrubbed with cold water with car shampoo added. Washed off with copious amounts of water. Those splash spots which seem to have lime in them and took hours to polish out with a machine last year were gone ! Also so was the brownish tide marks near the water line. Did the whole boat below rubbing strip and it soon dried (was a sunny day.) leathered any damp spots. Then hand polished the whole boat from top of cabin down to water line. One or two scratches needed rub with a rubbing / cleaning compound and a couple of black tar like scrapes had petrol added to clear. End result was and is brilliant spotless shine like new! Now on a roll I gave all my fenders a good clean with fine wire wool and cillit bang bathroom cleaner and shine (also good for lime deposits) Again great result. Whole thing took five hours including sit down for bite to eat!
My wife puts my mooring ropes in a pillow case then gives them a wash in the household washing machine. They always come up a treat.
So now time to look forward to next season and splice a few loops in some lengths of rope to make a few new fender ropes

Hello glad to hear it was that easy. I cleaned mine just before this season started and it took me ages I'm just about to pull my boat out to clean it down etc etc and I will, definetly, give this a go. Also glad to see that someone does post on this forum. I have only just joined and so far all I have seen is old posts. I also cannot see attachments for some reason. Probably something to do with the fact that I am a noob but I have posted to Admin but had no replay. But as I say it is good to see that someone still posts here LOL.

I've also cleaned the grime and crud from my 535 used the same. Works a great
