I thought I'd start a new thread so I can document the rebuild and rewire of my 570.
I have just bought this 1985 570 which is an unfinished project, the previous owner has done most of the hull and deck work and it's just a case of putting it all back together.

Here's some pics as she is now.

That's her home and in her place ready for me to start work, I'll get some pictures up of the work needing done when it's daylight.

I had a look at the aluminium parts from around the transom and the windscreen frame and decided they were too far gone to polish up so I've painted them with plasticote.

I had a good day out working on the boat yesterday I decided to try and straighten the new D fender in our green house as it can get very hot in there, I'm hoping to get some of the coils out of it. We then decided it was time to tackle the leaks in the cabin and took the head liner down to find there had been quite a lot of water getting in through old fittings so all the vynle on the walls is coming off too so we can replace the seal on the Houdini and all the windows still better to be dry.

Im at the same stage as you but mine has many things missing including the roof lining

If you get a minute would appreciate some dimensions off you lining to save me a bit of time


just finished my rewire yesterday and pleased to say it all works great.

New jockey wheel fitted and just about to head down to it now to try and sort the seized brake

Not a problem, I'll try and get the measurements up later for you, so far in my re-wire I've only done the nav lights, all new cables and plugs with LED bulbs, I've re purposed a 6 switch bluesea systems panel and the LED lights out of my old yacht which will be going in at some point in the near future.

We are thinking to just paint the side walls and around the front windows so as to eliminate the problem we have discovered on ours which is the vynal has collected water behind it which makes the cabin smell of mould We will then replace the head lining with new marine ply but varnished to within an inch of its life on both sides.

I found that mine was leaking through the hand rail connections

Ive removed these now and resealed, just got to take the pulpit off and reseal those fittings as well.

Can I ask how your headlining was attached? Is it screwed into batterns?

Hi there, yes the headlining was screwed in to batons which are glass fibered in to the cabin roof.
I have measured up the panels and here are a couple of pictures, excuse the rubbish drawings I'm no draughtsman all measurements are in mm and the big panel is just a mirror of this one. The longest edge is slightly curved I've used the edge of the tape measure to show this.

One more panel from the head liner is this one which goes on the underside of the windscreen just in side the door.
