Hi there what does everyone use to make their deck flat? At present all i have is a bit of ply in the middle part whereas i want the full deck flat thanks

it really depends on how you plan on doing the deck, do you want it to be removable or totally sealed.

Looks at Whammers thread on here with his 535, he has done a removable deck

If you look at my thread of my 570 I have gone for a sealed deck.

Either way, it needs to be either hardwood exterior or marine ply. 18mm is plenty.

If you are going to fibreglass it in then use exterior as you can get away with using Polyester resin which is much cheaper than epoxy resin

Marine ply must be used with epoxy resin.

The floor must be sealed on ALL edges , this is very important.

You could use a sealant like G4 water sealer or polyester resin mixed with a small amount of styrene.

The easiest way possible, i seen his post looks like something along them lines im after..i have a canopy so hopefully wont get as much water as others thanks

Go for exterior grade plywood and use this to seal all edges

may need a couple of coats

use stainless or brass screws to screw to the stringers and put some sikaflex 291 into the holes before the screws go in

Either way drill a pliot hole before you screw down otherwise the stainless screws will shear the heads off.

That looks almost exactly the same as mine. I used 18mm ply, four panels to make it manageable. They sit on wooden packers and are screwed through to the cross members.

I've deliberately left a small gap around the perimeter to allow any water back into the bilge. No sealing with epoxy required with this arrangement.
