SHETLAND OWNERS ASSOCIATION

I thought it would be nice to have an area on this forum, for owners on the broads, to have a place to arrange meetings and discuss our love of the Norfolk Broads!

I'm reasonably new to boat ownership, but work as a technician for the RNLI.

Mine is a Speedwell called 'Susie' BA No. F929
She is moored on the river Thurne not far from Potter Heigham.

I have seen so many Shetland craft on the rivers and would like to know more about you & yours..

Shetland Boats on the Norfolk Broads

Nice part of the world, the Broads...our previous 4+2 was moored at Broadsedge Marina Stalham..many a happy hour spent

Our Shetland 27i is moored at Acle.

Her name is Riverlight and her Broads Registration number is 949S

Had a lovely Shetland Family Four called Kas moored behind me last wednesday as well at Womack Dyke

I will keep an eye out for you on the broads.

Haven't ventured to Acle yet, as I only got my boat this year.

I am in Coltishall (on the upper R.Bure - unfortunately I can't get past Horstead Mill else I'd be in heaven lol).

My Shetland is still undergoing extensive renovation and is a year or 2 away from being finished, but I plan to moor it in either Coltishall or Wroxham when she is finally finished. In the meantime I have my 10ft modified sailing dinghy to keep me sane.

I have been visiting the R. Thurne @ Potter Heigham for many years with friends on our annual pike fishing trip, although its a bit of a busman's holiday now!

And you are right, there are a lot of Shetlands out there, including 535's like mine... although I plan to make mine a mint example which can't be said for all of them you see!
