SHETLAND OWNERS ASSOCIATION

Hi Everyone
Just over a year ago I fell in the Thames at Goring Moorings. Was deep but water was warm and swam to surface at side of boat. Problem then was that I could not get back on the boat. Have since obtained a really good life jacket and have now ordered a small three step stainless steel ladder to fit to my small swim deck at the rear of my ~Shetland 4 + 2. Question is.......which side of the boat do I fit the ladder. A/ On the Port side or B/ on the Starboard side ? Or perhaps it is just up to personal preference.
Any ideas ? any suggestions ?
Looking forward to the new season. My boat Blue Hunter will be back in the Thames by Easter...ca'nt wait

Hi there, firstly if your in the water trying to get back on board you try to use the outboard as a "ladder" if there's no other option making sure it's in neutral, better still stopped.Back to the original Q , my 4+2 has a 3 step folding ladder,it looks like an original fit & is Port side, but to be honest I don't think it matters.Fuel pipe one side, motor cables the other, but nothing on the underside of the platform.Mine is fitted over the motor cables so as to minimize the trip hazard.
