Good afternoon,
I'm trying to establish the year of my Shetland 535 for insurance purposes.
The Plaque by the steering column says it was made by Escomar Boats in Essex the Number is 2906, Any help would be greatly appreciated.

According to club lists, your 535 was built in 1971.

Hi, I'm also trying to find the age of my Shetland 535 for insurance reasons, my serial number is 5013.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Club records only show upto 1971 which ends in the 4700s. So at approx 1000 built per year, yours will probably be late '72 or early '73.

Hi neighbour, I'm not far from you. I moor in Hayle. Close as the crow flies but a fair distance by sea and I don't make it "round the corner" too often.

Hi, I have one marked 2342, is it safe to assume it was built in 1971 too?

Yes, spot on 1971. Most boats, from any manufacturer, built before 1974 were of heavier laminates due to the increased price of oil after the oil crisis of that year. Builders tended to economize on their layups.

All 535's will always be at least 44 years old. They stopped making them in 1975 so these days well looked after 535 is unlikely as hell
