Hi, I have an early 570 that came with the screen removed, it's all there but needs new acrylic that I'm going to order from Trent Plastics (£76) I'm a bit concerned about pop riveting the joining strips as they are at the moment due to the pressure exerted on the new acrylic that might crack it. Would it be better to bolt them, anyone done this and what sze bolts did you use, also bolts for the top strips are missing, what size are these. How is the screen fitted to the boat? I would imagine with either bolts or self tapping screws with a large washer underneath. Is there a rubber washer between the screen and the large steel washer and is the screen flat against the boat or are rubber washers also fitted between screen and boat.
Any problems cutting the acrylic, I think probably a very fine tooth saw rather than a power tool, also as the holes are very near the edge is it best to drill them before or after cutting the screens to shape. The 570 I got from the original owner who bought the boat from new without an engine, he fitted a bmc 1.5 diesel and an Enfield Z drive, Engine hadn't been started for about 15 years when I got it so fitted new glow plugs changed oil etc. and it started first time! Very economical and reliable but will never get on the plane. Am I the only one on this forum with an inboard? Many thanks for any advice you can give.

I don't know if I can help as I am quite a new owner of a 570 and there are others on this site who probably know a lot more. But I am in the throes of renewing all the fixings on my boat with stainless steel nuts and bolts or screws. I know that none of my windscreen fixings are pop riveted if that is any help. The nut and bolt to the centre strut are 10mm x 3mm, I have just replaced these and they fit perfectly, I think the sides are the same, I haven't done those yet. The ones that fit the screen to the boat at the bottom are 25mm and are about a no 8 screw and they screw into the boat itself and od have spacers. All I did was took a sample of each nut and bolt and screw I needed into an ironmongers and asked for them in stainless steel. Some of the bolts were too long but I just cut them to size. I could send you a couple of photos of the screen itself to give you some idea if you want, just send me your email address via the site if you do.

Hi there its Bounty hunter here when I rebuild my suntrip the sceen was missing completly so I had a friend fold me all the frame parts out of s/steel which I cut to size an angle to suit the cabin and to fix it all togerther I used m4 s/steel round head with allen key the were 15mm long and 20mm long for bolting sceen to the boat I put nylock nuts on them and I also put 1mm double sided tape between the frame and the polycarb . Make sure you uses polycarb because its so strong you could hit it with a brick and no crack it, the polycarb should be 5mm thick,the double sided tape can be obtained from a double glazing /plastic suppier (fascia /soffit supplier)my email address is [email protected] if you send me an email I will send you some picture of my boat with the sceen which I made in place. when i refitted my windscreen, i made sure i put a big rubber washer either side of the screen. check the pic on the gallery, under, boat back in the water, good luck, alan

Many thanks for the help guys, decided to go for acrylic rather than polycarbonate after much research, should be delivered next week then I can order my tonneau cover.

Hi. New to this site and boating. With acrylic perspex and most plastics you are better off scoring with stanley as deep as poss then bending, it will snap nicely along the score line. Also drill after as can cause stress points whilst working with after.

Thanks Paul, yes I read somewhere about scoring and then breaking but too scared to try it in case it goes wrong. The two side parts come down to a point which is very narrow and I'm afraid it might snap in the wrong place. Just got some jigsaw blades for acrylic so might have a go with them.
