Where do you put your toilets.

Well, here I am again with a very simple question, where do you put the toilet on your boat, is it chemical or is it sea . Would love pictures and answers as it's a part of the plans for my 570. Thanks for your answers in advance.

The ladies didn't like the original Elsan, so, on my 535 I took out the original box, glass in a bulkhead and fitted a curtain. Sea toilet completed the installation..

I would agree, a bucket is fine but, for some reason, my lady doesn't agree and hinted " some semblance of civilisation is necessary ".

For me it's not where's the toilet in the boat, but where's the boat in the toilet.
Most of the time I'm remote enough to just go over the side, but when there's others in the area, or it's too rough to lean overboard I use the bucket.
The Missus flatly refuses to consider needing to go, until blue in the face, she retreats into the cabin with the bucket, which to be fair is properly made with a seat and lid...

When I first met my wife, she came on a weeks holiday with me on my old Shetland 498, she had never been on a boat before, we had no fridge, I gas burner and a bucket!
We didn't argue once!!
Unfortunately if I had known that would lead to a life sentence, I would have pushed her over the side

We had a chemical loo on our previous boat. Not nice having to carry it off to empty and limited capacity! Our 4+2 came with a Jabasco Sea Toilet and its brilliant. I agree lads can go in a bucket but I’m with the ladies here, I’ve reached an age and it’s great being able to sit down and flush away!
Points to consider... much more work to install, but easy with your project! You need a water source. Mainly these come thru the hull and you prime the toilet with whatever you are on ie river or sea. This has to be a secure fitting
with a tap to shut off on the hull.
You need a holding tank to flush to and then a pump out which will be on the gunnels.
The original owner of our boat must have pee’d for England cos we have a 300L tank!!!!!! But if you’re inshore with no pump out facilities and away for a few days it may be needed. I bought a 12v macerating pump and dedicated hose so I can pump out into our sewer via the manhole (advantage of trailer). I then pump fresh water through to clean it all.
Jabasco are cheap and good quality. Spares are available and there are great videos on YouTube for maintenance. We have a compact like this...
