Shetland 4+2 outboard size

Hi all, I have a Shetland 4+2 with a Honda 60hp on the back which will just about plane at full throttle but have to hold it on the red line to keep on the plane! Does anyone have a larger outboard on theirs and if so will it cruise on the plane?? Thanks in advance! Luke.

The hard part is usualy getting up on the plane, in my experience once up the throttle can be backed off.
Have you tried shifting more weight to the front of the boat ?

Yeah shifting weight to the front definitely helps
But I still have to hold nearly full throttle to hold on the plane which pretty much limits me to doing it for short bursts, ideally I'd like to be able to cruise on the plane when at sea

I’ve got a Honda 75 hp on mine gets up on plane and cruises at 23 mph , but I need full power to keep it there !!
But I still have to hold nearly full throttle to hold on the plane which pretty much limits me to doing it for short bursts, ideally I'd like to be able to cruise on the plane when at sea
