Could anyone tell me the age of my 535 the number is 4931, thanks?

There was a page on the old shetland owners web site that gave the reg' number and age of boat ref's.
But its not on the new web site
There should be a small metal badge beside your cabin door that will say Shetland 535 and the reg' number of the boat.
Maybe the S.O.A. site administrator could help

Yes, these were freely available on the Shetland site. My wife Chris noted some data when we were looking to buy a Shetland at that time so we may be able to help. Interestingly the last build numbers given for the 535 were 3278-4173 for year 1972, and the number you have posted is higher than that. I've noticed that there was a 536 built from 1973 which is similar in appearance but is described as being completely new from the keel up, in that parts of the structure were filled with a non-water absorption polyurethane foam with the aim of making the boat `unsinkable'. Build numbers for the first year (1973) were shown as being 600-6209, so is it possible that your boat may be a 536 built in 1973? We hope that this helps.

It’s still here under boat spec’s. However the 535 only goes up to number 4173 which was 1972

Unfortunately the plate had been removed so wonder if there is a back up or any other way of finding a serial number

My 570 has the plate next to the cabin door as it should but the number is also embossed in the gel coat next to the transom on the starboard side just under the rubbing strip. I don’t know if this is the norm. because it is my first boat but it‘s got to be worth a look

This may be a long shot but if your Plate with the ID is missing ,there is another place you may find the the number of your boat ,and that is on the stern under the wooden block there may be the number cast in to the gel coat , the only reason I know they used to do this is because my friend had lots one of his wooden block and I spotted his number in the gel coat ,we checked it against the plate and they where one and the same .The blocks are only held on with 2 or 3 screws from inside the boat normaly .
