SHETLAND OWNERS ASSOCIATION

Hi,

I have just purchased a shetland. However I am unsure of the model. On the stearing column it says 536 and according to serial number its 1977 model, however the transom does not look like ones I seen in the pictures. Ie it is not straight across. The transom is cut in a "n" shape where the engine is. It also has rails along the side of the cock pit, and a triangle anchor locker.
It looks more like a Shetland family 4 from photos i have seen online. Also it has two long seats in the cockpit which fold up against the sides. Please could any one give me any pointers?

My boat also has 536 on its id plate. But i was told that it was actually a family four MK1.
The difference is that the family four MK1 has a hatch above the cabin door and the 536 doesn't.
There was an overlap from the 536 and family four, it was a 536 and then a 536 family four MK1 and then it was just called the family four

Looking at other photos, it seems similar to the Mk2

The top hatch can be taken off, it has an anchor locker, its got the two side seats in the cockpit, the corner seats.
The rails on the side. The single rail on the front. Admin is will be uploading a couple of photos for me.
It also has the table, that fits in the front to creat the double bed.

That is either a 535 or a 536.

Its exactly the same as my boat and i was informed by shetland boats ltd that it was a family 4 MK1.
Can't understand why they had 536 on the id plate
