I have replaced the seal with self adhesive closed cell sponge rubber on several hatches in the past. I also removed the seal around the glass on one, replaced it with Sikaflex. Both worked well and the remaining sponge has found several uses for other jobs.

A good day out, no rain. spent £55 on a VHF aerial and mounting plus a pair of stainless handrails to replace my wooden ones. Came home with £70 more than I had at the start of the day.
