570 project from bare shell

I origionally fitted my bilge pump at the transom but found that when afloat the lowest part was at the front of the cockpit by the first cross member aft of the cabin. My floor is in 3 sections that can be lifted out to give easy access to the hull for inspection and cleaning and work on the bilge pump, log impellor etc.

New throttle and gear remote cables arrived today !!!!

The ones with my outboard came off a 535 and are only 9ft long, I measured and actually needed 14ft.

found a great price on ebay cheaper than anywhere else and they arrived today after ordering yesterday afternoon.

Just hope we get some better weather this weekend, got so much to do

Heres this weeks update

been busy building and flowcoating seat pedestals, lockers and doors.

Got the engine mounted this week and all cables and clocks connected.

tried to turn her over and its dead!!

Then remembered that I have new throttle and gear shift cables so have I got the lengths right on the plastic ends. I knew that there are 2 neutral switches, one inside the remote control unit and one on the end.

I checked my settings and they are seem ok.

thought its got to be the battery as its been sitting around dormant for 12 months, needed a a second one anyway so picked one up today whilst out and about.

Still dead !!!

get lights on clocks etc nut not even a click from the starter motor, got to be the neutral switches.


Out with the service manual and start going through the diags

12v at the battery leads on motor

disconnected the neutral switch and tested for continuity, all seems ok

back to the remote control unit, one of the screws is badly damaged so its out with the drill

come to test the switch and notice a blog of plastic, microswitch is damaged

unsolder one of the pins and connect the 2 wires together to test.

Motor turns over !!!!!!!!

got a picture of the switch and going down to maplins tomorrow to see if I can pick one up

was planning on flowcoating my deck this week but weather has been against me

Got use of some under cover warehouse from tomorrow afternoon till sunday night so the floor will be done whatever

My 2 Vetus first mate seats arrived as well, very pleased with them.

I've been looking at the first mate seats, are they worth twice the money your typical seats steel for?

I think so they are really well made

Don't think I will use them for the rear seats, they are too nice

Got them from frenchmarine, but had to wait a week for delivery

I think its only them and the shop in angelsey who have them

I have two mismatched original 1980's seats at the moment, they aren't especially comfortable on rough seas!

I believe the original 570 seats were more of a bucket seat that didn't fold

Ill be using cheaper seats on the back
