Thanks. Did yours look like mine? This is a 1972 single skinned hull at least I think it is single skin. Not going to drill a hole to find out never heard of a limber hole

The cause of the bilge pump failing was a bit of fishing line wrapped around the impeller
On lifting the decking I find that there is a whole load of water which is trapped and can’t get to the rear of the boat where the bilge pump is.
What have other owners done to stop this?

Good news
The boat is now outside my house
The outboard is running
Cost so far 800€ for divers
876.56€ for lifting boat and cleaning flushing and starting the outboard
All because a £15 bilge pump failed.
I hadn’t realised I only had 3rd party insurance.
Yeah I still love boating.

I reached 24knots today or 27.6 mph.
Do I really need anymore?
I spilt my cup of tea at 21knots.
I just love my new engine plus it was 26° here today. I’m sunburnt in October

The app is speedometer on an iPhone It has a big 55 in the middle of it

Today I reached 21.9 knots
Averaged 12 knots
I used just under 6 liters of fuel
Not sure about the altitude figure, the waves weren’t that big

I went out yesterday in a swell of way over a metre high, so not the best for a top speed run.
Total of 4.5hours cruising at 12 knots a couple of blasts at 19knots (waves making it too bouncy for top speed) and about an hour of trolling at 5 knots

Doing a very similar route around the Ebro delta and roughly the same speed I would have used around 20litres with the evinrude
Now it’s 5 liters.
Haven’t tested for top speed yet as I need a really calm day.

My Shetland 535 came with a 2 stroke 50hp evinrude. A couple of weekends ago lost forward thrust. I had to limp 5km home at tickover in reverse. Took 2 hours. Tried to remove the leg and all 4 bolts sheared off.
Maybe a 40 year old two stroke is just a bit too old.
