SHETLAND OWNERS ASSOCIATION

Lot of nostalgic comments so far , I bought mine for a simular reason , My ole man always had boats , mainly Glastron or Fletcher Speed boats ,but had a lovely Shetland when we were kids , So it was born into me , as were the rest of my collection , Land Rovers and David Brown Tractors

After assesing the bodywork of my 535 I feel its in need of a respray to bring it back to its former glory , question is to acheive a good finish what is the best paint to use to do the job that will last me 5 years or so ? It will be doing a few salt water trips.

The first trip planned in the spring after the refurb is in at the marina at the docks then up to Hanham for a pint in the lock and weir .

I have recently purchaced a project for the winter months , I am now the proud owner of a 535 , but i need to get an idea of what sort of age it is.

Im certainly no expert on outboards but have you got a spark at the plugs , or is there a starting inhibitor fitted on the controls that wont let you start it on gear ?

I think im in the same boat as you ! Literaly speaking , I just purchaced a 535 with a 60 Merc that needs some TLC , I will be watching this post for the same advice
