498 just bought her and needing advice

Hi everyone.


I have recently just bought a 498 and have stripped her completely out and rubbed her down ready for painting looking for advice on the best way to paint her ? Any help would be greatly appreciated


Also just out of intrest I have a yam f30 am HD for sale it's a 2004
Has the assit tilt on her and the grade tiller arm also

I currently have it away being serviced ryt now !

I am going to be at a simular stage soon with my 535 , I have been doing a bit of research regarding the paint , I called into my local paint suppliers Avonmouth Paint and supplies , The guy there was very helpful and knowledgable , They do most makes of marine grade paints but he recomended the best product being SigmaDur .
Its a 2 part paint that can be either aplied by Spraying ,Roller or brush ,2 hour touch dry and 4 to 5 days curing time.
For the best results and finish I guess conventional air spraying will give the best finish without much effort , but a small gloss roller will give a decent finish but I have found this to be a tad orange peely and being 2 pack paint you need to work fast with it.

painted my 570 with 2k. expensive, but brilliant stuff, did it with foam rollers and brush, two people to do it, one rolling, one "tipping" with brush. some good info on painting and prepping on the other site im on, "practical boating" an absolute wealth of knowledge, from people who have years of experience. good luck, alan.

Thanks for your help guys I phoned a local spray paint store and have quoted me £60 for all the paint on the under side and £30 for the top half I think that be a result !!!
