Newbie Question on a 570

I’m new to the site and a new owner of a Shetland 570, she’s in good nick but obviously I intend to make my mark on it so I have a question for you guys in the know.

She came with a Merc 50 Hp 2 stroke, works as it should, however, I’m looking at going bigger. Will the boat cope with a 120-150hp 2 stroke (modding the transom if necessary) or will this cause undue issues?

According to boat specs, max outboard power is 100hp or 120hp with inboard. I would have thought that would be quite enough for most uses. As soon as you start modding and upping the power, you may find Insurance difficult.

I had thought about that but thought I’d ask, I have seen that the 570 can take a 115hp and presumably that’s it’s max. The 50hp works but won’t get it into its plain unfortunately.

I'm looking to go the opposite direction and trade down in power to a 30/40 hp 4 stroke. I have a 115 Yamaha v4 for sale or trade plus cash valued at £1200. This will definitely get you into the plane!

I’ll be selling my Merc 50hp 2 stroke.

I was looking at an Evinrude V4 but it sold very soon after.

I've hopefully attached a picture for you and could take some more if you are interested. It has all the controls such as electric trim and auto lift and ive heard it run plus seen video taken early July which was the last time itt was in the sea. There is some damage to the propeller but other than that it seems to be in very good condition.
