Hi all,
Our new boat(new to us anyway) arrived today and everything is very confusing still. Its a 4+2 and we are extremely pleased with it so far. Everything seems to work and everything seems to be there that should be there. But I do have a couple of questions for anyone who is feeliing like helping out.
First one is do I have to disconnect the fuel line from the tank after every use.
Second question...is it best to leave outboard in the water or lift out while not in use.
There will be more questions popping into my head over the next few weeks no doubt, but these two will do for starters.

we had a 4+2 moored permanently on moorings in the Hamble
From memory, we never disconnected the fuel pipe unless we were going to leave the boat for some time. As for lifting the engine, we were in a fast tidal river known for weed so use to raise the engine to stop it from fouling up and collecting debris

What engine does it have? Is it fuel injetion (EFi) or carburettor? If it is a carb engine, I was told by a very experienced outboard engineer to drain the petrol lines, which drains the carb, to prevent gunking up if the engine is left for more than a few weeks. This isn't an issue on EFi engines. Stale fuel left in the carbs can leave a gunky residue. If you don't intend using the boat over winter, don't leave the fuel in the tank as it degrades over a few months.
When you have finished with the engine after a cruise or for the season, disconnect the fuel line into the engine then run the engine until the remaining fuel in the line and carb runs out and the engine stops. Then re connect the fuel line. This leaves the carb bowl free of fuel.
As for engines up or down, in our marina 95% leave engines down, but that is inland marina so not issue with debris floating past.

Sorry, it should have read disconnect the fuel line, run the engine until it stops then reconnect the fuel line. A bit confusing saying it drains the fuel line !
