Early model F4 folding cockpit bench seat hinge info required.

Hi Frankestien,a belated follow up to your Q? I have sold my Black Hawk now so I'm working from memory, I might still have my original sketch, I'll have a root, the seat does not sit on the ledge at the back and I think the ends of the support piece were curved off so the piece could pivot without binding.The main support is by 3 tubular legs along the front edge of the seat. The tubes where of a diameter that would fit inside the channel used for the hinge mounts, these channel sections where about 75mm in length, a hole at either end for mounting screw/poprivet, then a holesaw, the same diameter as the tube, cut thro the section in the middle (follow me so far).These holes are thro the base part of the "c" section if its on the bench looking like "U" if you follow. A 5mm hole is thro the 2 sides of the channel on the same central position as the holesaw & about midway up the side,this is for the leg pivot bolt. The tubes need to be long enough to reach from the deck to the top of the seat board ie the distance from the floor to the bottom of the seat + the thickness of the seat base, a 5mm hole is drilled thro the tube so as to line up with the channel section 5mm hole at the desired height. Once the 3 section pieces are mounted to the seat base you have to use the same holesaw and using the "C" section hole as a guide drill thro the wooden base, The issue now is that with the legs fitted the wobble is limited BUT you can't drop the seat coz the legs are in the way, so you now need to file a slot into the leg from the predrilled 5mm hole upwards this will allow the legs to be pulled out of the seat base and pivoted thro 90 deg to lay flat along the seat base. EASY AS THAT.

Thanks for these details Dave, they should certainly come in helpful as soon as I start on the seat base arrangement. If anyone out there has any detailed pics I'd much appreciate it.

Forgot to say in my simple description,that the 5mm hole that goes thro' the section sides needs to be in a position to allow the tube to slide along inside the section so it stows flat.I think a photo would be a great help,you could possibly try 1209 Ian,one of our members cheers
