Hello I hope you're all good
This is my first post(after introducing)
1 year ago I felt in love with a Shetland 535
and now I decided to buy one
Me and my wife we have two kids 10/7yrs and iam not sure about the size of a 535 and went over to a 570...
What do you guys think ist the right size for our boat
We wanna cruise around do some fishing and maybe spend some nights in the cabin (I know it's tight in both) I also wanna slip it from a trailer maybe sometimes alone...
I am looking forward for you answers.....

All I will say is get a boat big enough for your needs. Looking at a 535 I think it would be a squeeze with two adults and two kids to sleep on. I would say extend the budget and look at a 4+2 or similar size. If you buy too small you will very shortly want to upgrade.

Yeah that's true.....but the most time we wanna use it for cruising and fishing do you think it's even too small for that? I already looked for a 4+2 but couldn't find one in Germany thats for sale.
At the End it will be a compromise between comfort and flexibility.
I guess a 4+2 or similar ist not so easy to trailer!? and I wanna visit different lakes and rivers

I have a 4+2 on a trailer. I upgraded from a 5 metre (16ft) Mayland as I wanted more room and it’s the biggest boat I could tow. Great boat but more of a cruiser. It’s a heavy rig, with engine, water, fuel etc it’s around 17-1800kg so make sure your vehicle can legally tow it and get a multi roller trailer. Also a soft top is easier to tow than the hard top. I’ve seen a couple for sale recently on the Facebook Shetland groups. Very good price too.

Thanks a lot for the reply....
The boats are great anw would fit ferfectly for us and even the prices are good
But my car can only tow up to 1500kg
So maybe I have no choice but taking a smaller one.
Does anyone know the weight of a fully equipt 570 with a trailer?

Are you based in Germany?
If you like Shetland Boats, my strong advice is to find one already in the EU. Since Brexit on 31.12.20 any boat imported into the EU from the UK is liable for EU VAT, and has to meet the current standards of the EU recreational craft directive (rcd) without regard to the age of the boat, and to what standards were in place at the time of manufacture.
No Shetland 570 (1972-1982 approx) or the later Black hawk and Saker variants (1982-1992) have manufacturer type approval under the EU rcd, although a small number already in the EU have had individual retrospective approval through official inspection and testing.
There is no legal requirement for any pleasure boat in the UK to have any registration documents, (apart from some specific licences for use on some inland waters) so the majority of old UK boats have no documentation, making importing them into the EU very difficult now.
