Auxiliary motor and windows

Hi all I' have just joined the group after purchasing my first boat a family four which is in need of a little tlc.
I have a few questions if anybody could help me please
What size auxiliary motor should I fit just for river use
And is it easy to change from the face fix windows which look tired and like they leak to rubber sealed windows and last of all any recommendations as to where to purchase from

9.9hp is pretty standard for rivers, lakes and canals, but will limit your ability to do any coastal cruising to slack waters.

40hp is minimum to get the boat up on plane, but even at idle it will be too fast for slow manoevers on canals.

4hp as an emergency backup aux. They're lightweight, seperate fuel tank and pull start so totally seperate redundancy from main engine.
Some people have 100ftlb (3hp eqv.) electric outboard aux which will give about 5knts. for 2hrs on 2x100ah batteries, but this is a fairly new thing, and if it's a charging/battery fault that has failed on your main engine you could be in bother, but they're 13kgs, cheap and reliable as long as you have the amps to feed them.

The oversized face fit windows are better than the ones within rubber seals which always end up leaking. The face fit ones are easy to remove and reseal with butyl tape. Hadley Seals sell Scapa tape which is easy to use.
Over sized face fit are also cheap to replace if they are crazed or cracked. I replaced mine about 20 years ago and they are still fine

I’ve just ordered some to do the windows on my yacht.
It makes a waterproof seal when compressed by 30% or more. It’s a hell of a lot easier to use than sikaflex 291 and no mess.

Hi just bought a four plus 2 hard top, any ideas where I can buy replacement window catches please, I would like to see if I can fit vented ones if possible.

What are the window catches like? Any photos? Is it the coachroof hatch or some kind of opening windows?
