Black Hawk Vs Kestrel/570 ?

Hi All

Has anybody got any thoughts on the Black Hawk Vs Kestrel/570 ?

We, my boat buying partner and I, have got the chance of both and was wondering what the pros and cons are.

Our rough requirements are:

Trailer to launch sites with a medium size 4x4(Rav4 max 2000kg)

Do a bit of fishing, not to far off shore around the Scottish west coast and it’s islands.

Normally would be two anglers but it’d be nice to be able take one or two more occasionally

Do a bit of pleasure boating with our families, probably on Loch Lomond or on very mild seas; need to be able to take two adults and a couple of kids

Cost circa £4k

I believe the 570/Kestrel and the black hawk all have the same hull and very similar weight so towing any of them would not be a problem with your vehicle . I think you would be lucky to get a Kestrel for 4k , I don’t know the prices of black hawk’s but you should be able to find a nice 570 in that price bracket as indeed I did . As far as which to go for, the 570/ Kestrel has more outside (cockpit) space so would be more suited for your fishing requirements and the black hawk has more cabin room so may be better for your family’s comfort. Personally I like to be out in the open so I prefer the 570 anyway.

Thanks for the tips Glen, exactly what I'm looking for.

You make a good point about outdoor Vs indoor space. I think in reality for us it'll be a rare ocassion if we sleep onboard or even have passengers travel inside.

Does anybody have any pics of a Black Hawks rear, I'm struggling to find one that gives an idea of the space available.

I'd welcome more thoughts if anyone has any.

Go onto "Board Index" and at the botom of the page you should have a referance section with a library page. If not then i'm sorry to tell you that you are missing some of this site but I'm sure admin will sort it all out for you. I think you need to be a paid member !!!

I have a Black Hawk because that was what was available!! I reckon any of the above would be OK. Perhaps look at the best one at the right price to point yourself the way to go. Pay attention to the engine, nice boat - lousy engine = lots of wonga Ours is moored at Lochgoilhead not a million miles from you.
