WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE THIS YEARS DONATION TO GO?

Dear Members

In a couple of weeks this "new" site will be 2 years old. The bills are paid and the site, web address and domain have been paid until 2016

According to our non - profit making status ( thank you Mr Taxman) I have over £400 of subs and burgee profits to donate to our choice of charities or good causes. Last year we handed over £400 to the RNLI - a charity that we all hopefully will never have to benefit from.

So where to this year?

Inland people, do you have inland waterways projects we could consider? After all you are as much part of this association as us sea going folk.

What about a 50/50 split between the RNLI and some Inland waterway project ?

Good idea but I think an unequal share would be more appropriate since (according to the annual finacial reports) the RNLI funding is quite a bit more than that of the inland waterways.

Before commiting 100% to the RNLI ( which is a very worthy cause) Have a read of this about the Canal & River Trust, which is also a worthy cause. Without navigable rivers and canals and a slow demise in boating inland you would end up with a long term decrease in amenities which a lot of folk enjoy, not just boaters but everyone else who enjoys a walk / cycle down by the river / canal. Also the wildlife that could be lost has to be taken into the overall equation.

We should split it based on sea vs fresh water members between RNLI and an inland water project.
