suggestions for cleaning boats?

Hi,

Lots of boats will be coming out from layers of winter dirt soon, what suggestions do people have for cleaning hulls, topsides, interiors etc?

I have now sold my 1989 F4 mk4, 2015 70hp 4str Yamaha. Milford Haven. I proudly owned it for over 20 years, before changing to sailpower and a yacht...

Mur car polish and plenty of elbow grease
There is NOTHING--absolutely nothing--half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.

Starbright premium marine polish ,it's not cheap but works well and lasts . :)

I use CIF, cheap as chips but it works, available from your local shop.

I use Cif or Vim for really grubby bits. Vim is underrated and cheap as chips. It's tough but kind to the gel coat at the same time. Last year I used Farecla G3 cutting compound and a polishing machine followed by two coats of Mer Polish. You could see your face in the shine!

For cleaning - shampoo and water.

For cutting - polish (yes, every time you polish your car you’re actually grinding away some paint; polish as infrequently as possible).

For a shine - wax.

My own preferences for the boat? Autoglym shampoo; Farecla G3 or Collinite 920 cutting compounds; Collinite 885 wax.
