Boat name

Just purchased 535 with the name Scooby Doo. Not suited for a viking methinks. Is it unlucky to change a name?

Ignore the mad scotsman. You can change the nam BUT to be lucky you must pay homage to neptune. A bottle of bubbly normally suffices. Sue ADMIN

Going to rename mine once renovation is complete....

good as this is not a thing to take chances on. If you offered me a wee dram I could tell you many stories of people ignoring the gods of the sea and even take you to their grave. This is a very serious matter and should be treated so.

Hi...My boat a shetland 4 + 2 was named Nik Nak..........how crap was that ? Now has cruised the Thames under her new name "Blue Hunter" for the past 12 months and enjoyed every minute. Luck is in peoples imagination. Just do it and keep your fingers crossed !!

rename whilst out of the water and also you must offer gifts to the lords of the wine dark sea
either Neptune or Poseidon ,dependant on your leanings, to be on the safe side a bottle of bubbly for each might be a good idea,failing that a bottle for them both and one for your good selves would be in order

You scrape the old name off and put the new one on, and that's it... It is best to do this with boat out of the water because you might fall in whilst leaning over the side, and some might consider that unlucky. You then treat yourself to a drink for a job well done.

I've done it that way on loads of boats and never had any mythical sea god take any notice.
