Just in case any of you find yourself in the same situation:
A friend of mine recently (despite being advised) decided he would get under a bridge without taking down the canopy................Well he didn't and tore the canopy on one side on the top rail (Shetland 4+2).
I have a friend (YES another one!) who repairs/makes vintage car covers and seats etc and he said he would repair it for him. After searching the web I found a company called Acorn Canvas. I mailed them as they only appeared to sell by the metre on-line and bought 2.5 mtrs of navy blue. At the same time I also purchased a metre of Clearspeck window material as mine has a split in it. Paid by paypal and it was delivered 2 days later, excellent service and all for £63.25p inc postage.
