Usefull Apps for Android Phone

Hi There

Does anyone know of any useful apps. I could put on my Nokia Lumia 720 mobile, that would assist someone of my limited sailing experience, to keep as safe as possible while out and about on the Scottish sea lochs.

I have ventured out twice on Loch Fyne since I acquired my Black Hawk and had a few frustrating experiences in relation to the outboard remote, which decided to virtually seize then when the casing was opened, fell apart. It's amazing what a whole load of thick grease will hold in place for a short while!! We live and learn..... I will add this to my list of things to check, when I buy my next boat

I did manage to get hold of a 2nd hand Suzuki NA12S controller from Ebay, which had enough spares to cobble together (hopefully) a working unit. Of course I won't know for sure how it holds up until I get her out again, but, at least I can get into gear and throttle up without asking Terminator Arnie to help push the throttle arm.

NB. If Dave sees this, do you go up to the Lochgoil Watersports Club yard, as I have just been accepted as a member and have been allocated a space to store the boat.

1: any of the uk tide apps, these have changed a lot and some have lots of advertising
2: google maps and there are a few for scotlands islands that a pal showed me so this will depend on where you are going
3: what fish or similar but that is more a hobby thing
4: met office weather
5: knots guide ( that is the name of the app) which is v helpful and a good fun thing to do at night but hay maybe thats just me!

I might make the GAC event on the 27th as I might be off that day. The Boat Show looks good and I have never attended one so might be able to visit on the Saturday as I am nightshift, but don't start until 19.15.

I just posted another "help" re the best sparkplugs for my Suzuki DT65, 2 Stroke, 3 Cylinder 1990 outboard which is still struggling to keep running. If new sp's don't make any difference,I am probably going to have to put her to bed until next year and start filling the piggy bank. It would seem anything connected with the word "marine" seems to cost way over the top, or am I still in "newbie boat person " dreamland lol. Anyway, thanks again for your help and I will be sure to say "hello" if I manage to get to one of the events.
