I realise its a different hull and smaller boat but my Sheltie only ever sees salt water. It is a very sea worthy hull and very stable for a small boat, even in a chop. I did the RYA powerboat level 2 course which I would definitely recommend you do. I have a VHF radio, fish finder for depth and carry coastal and off shore flares. I also carry plenty of fuel and follow the thirds rule - one 25l tank for the outgoing journey, another 25l for the return journey and a 20l jerry can to cover any unforeseen circumstances. I carry a 5kg Bruce anchor with 7m of chain and enough rope to allow 3 times the depth we anchor in.
Be prepared and don't go out if the weather looks dicey and its a lot of fun, particularly if you enjoy sea fishing.

If you’re about next weekend (28th and 29th) on the southern Broads we’ll be on the system, the missus and I are meeting up with members of my Car Club for Sunday Lunch at Coldham Hall. We call it a “Boats and Cars” meet, most of 'em will be in Morgans but those of us who have boats come by river. I’m based at the Waveney River Centre, my boat’s BSS expires on 5th October so it’ll probably be our last weekend on the water.
