boat insurance declined

hi, for the last few years I've insured my Shetland 535 through insure my boat, they are now saying that now it is 40 years old I need a dry survey and valuation report, I keep it on a trailer in a secure caravan storage site and it has a 50 hp engine. Which insurance company does everyone else use?

I was in a hurry and bought fully comp. insurance for my 1980's Black Hawk, with a Suzuki DT65 and Suzuki 4HP Aux, twin wheeled trailer, (which included towing) and stored originally in a secure caravan hard standing through SAGA. I paid £128 which seemed reasonable to me at the time. As their insurance is for the over 50's, they might look kindly on your relatively "young boat"! Hope this helps.

I had the same thing with my insurance. Took my money for a few years then suddenly when it was nearly 40 yrs old they all wanted a expensive lift out and survey

Try GJW Direct. they were very easy to deal with and rates were very good and didn't ask for a survey.

Go for Saga .
Quoted my boat 34 years old. One year under their survey year and they have never asked for a survey since, even when I have asked them if it needed one. Same price 6 years later.
Seems like once they have a good customer they don't want to loose them.

Just bought Shetland 2+2 under the windscreen is a portion of the boat that has been stripped off can anyone tell me what was there originally there is adesive marks so I'm guessing that's how I would repair

I've used Craftinsure for years. My boat is exactly 40 years old, a 20 foot Shetland Speedwell with 15hp outboard. They didn't ask for a survey and charged me £95.

thanks for the replies i'll try those but as i'm under 50 I don't think saga will insure me.
