Shetland leak?

The sealark I got had a lot of water under the seats in the cabin which I have drained. Was it rain water and is it common

Hi Marty, This is more common on Shetland boats than you realize, try resealing every deck fitting that is on the boat, +check anchor locker for cracks,if that doesnt sort it check all covers for watertightness and seals on windows .

There was another post on this topic just a few days ago with lots of suggestions on what might be the cause:

It sounds like you might be getting water leaking in through the windows or cabin hatch, perhaps?

I was very unfortunate last season, after fitting a new engine i did not put the drainage plug back properly, this resulted in my Suntrip sinking within hours at the marina. The boat was recovered and minor repairs carried out, however water started to appear inside the cabin .on 2 occasions I have removed maybe 1 or 2 litres which I believe has been rain water . I think the internal pressure of the water when the boat was submerged and then being lifted on a hoist has caused the window seals to fail, I'm hoping that a run around the seals with a quality silicone sealant will set things right as I love my Shetland Suntrip
