shetland 535 trailer

i know its says it will take a 20ft boat, but by the looks of it it wouldnt suit ur shetland

Seems to lack brakes so all up weight cannot exceed 750 Kgs. Might be a bit tight with a 535 and engine etc.

Thanks for advice. This is my first boat and I really don't know what to look for. Can you tell me what kind of trailer I need please. The seller of this trailer seems to think it's suitable for shetland 535

The seller is sort of right. That trailer would fit a 535 on it and it would be OK but as said above it could easily go above the 750kg limit.

By law, any trailer with a gross weight over 750kg must have brakes for towing on the road.

That trailer is likely about 300kg. The boat around 300kg. Add an engine at 100kg with a battery and fuel adding another 50kg and you're already on the 750kg limit.

To be safe you really would be better off with a braked trailer. Can the seller do the same unit with brakes?

As per another post, my Shetland 535 with a 60hp 2 stroke and a few bits and bobs weighed 880kg on my trailer. Last weekend I completed a £600 renovation to convert it to a braked unit. It's now all plated up properly and I am much happier to be legal in the road. Most trailers are pretty easy to adjust to suit a Shetland even if you have to buy some bits to make your own rollers or bunks.

Which part of the country are you in, I think that trailer is from Stratford upon Avon as I looked at it as a possible option myself. I am happy to help a fellow owner if you are in the West Midlands area.

That trailer looked similar to mine, apart from being newer and more swish...

I regard mine as a minimum for a 535 . It's unbraked and the other posters are right in that it will certainly be close to, or perhaps over, the weight limit.

I will be upgrading to a braked trailer at some point.

sorry mate cant remmenber exactly as i sold the boat ,
think i tried 11x15, brought the revs write down, felt like a way better ride as the engine wasnt screaming,
