570 rebuild and rewire

Hello Shetlandsheltie Magic here.Did you see my post sometime back about "Houdini Hatches"and it being used as a generic name for all similar hatches?Anyway a guy called Stuart at Houdini helped me to identify mine from a few photo's and some relevant measurements.He might be able to help with your seal problem.The pic's of your progress look super a painstaking with light at the end of the tunnel,R:E Bung,my black hawk also has a moulded in bronze tube & a 25mm stainless steel lever action bung in the transom bilge (supplied as standard) with an open plastic tubed drain in the splashwell. Been busy making pedestals and lockers for the deck

goy half of these flow coated today and managed to pop down to the boat to fit the remote control and a stainless switch panel which can be seen at 4 o'clock through the steering wheel

This took a while to make as I made it from a piece of 2mm sheet stainless I had.

Console is now complete and outboard scheduled in for fitting on Sunday morning, when I have someone to help me and can use the forklift at the storage place to lift the bugger up.

hoping to get the doors flowcoated this week so they can be fitted at the weekend as well.

Looking good Simon,
I do like that black panel on your dash, I am seriously thinking to change mine to something like that as I don't like the checker plate the previous ower put on.

Its just black 4mm Perspex

I used a piece of hardboard first to get the template and then copied it onto the Perspex


Really like how its turned out

Great to see how well the black perspex looks as a dash because that's what I intend to do on my 535. I have lots of it lying about since I replaced the windows.

Well that's it done,
The boat is finished, it has had a full rewire with bluesea systems switch panel and isolator switch with charging relay so I can run two battery's which will both charge off the engine, all the nav lights have been rewired and LED bulbs fitted, Simrad NSS7 with p66transducer fitted, MT500 VHF fitted, new windows and seals fitted, new D fender fitted (used a propane torch for that, worked really well ), fitted the Honda bf45 engine and controls, seat and windscreen, new camping cooker fitted.
Still to fit is the canopy and frame.

Hi again Shetlandsheltie,still following your picture progress,Q 1 when you took the cabin deckhead carpet/board out r.e.picture posted Mar 20 this year, how was the carpet "fixed" around the hatch?Was it just glued to the roof or actually trapped under the hatch securing plates? Yes I know it's glued to the plyboard,which is screwed to the roof batons,it's that last bit that is folded up to the hatch rim.My roof liner carpet is showing signs of age,(the "nylon"fibres have started to fall out like a fine dust),the glue no longer holds it all up.Q2 was it a big job to cut & refit new carpet to the hatch edge again.Q3 Were did you get new carpet from ? this is assuming that the carpet was replaced. Hi there magicflack,
On my boat it was a vynal that was on the headliner, it was glued to the metal frame of the Houdini and a u section trim then covered the edges.
As for replacement the headliner hasn't been done yet it'll probably be a winter job but we have talked about just varnishing the new boards and not bothering with carpet or vynal.
