Hi newbie here just bought a Shetland 535 suntrip
needs a little work any advice would be welcomed

hopefully looking for a berth in st Andrews once finished
Got a Suzuki dt40 to fit and then off for some fishing trips , after a little work
Il try and keep posting the pics as we go.
got sealing paint to the floor done today as it stayed dry

Not hanging around obviously, looks good! I went on my first bass fishing trip a few weeks back, certainly more fun that sitting beside a lake for hours in my opinion!

Should I add foam and buoyancy?
Planning on making her water tight with new windows and sealing all the bolts as the originals are letting water in

I couldn't help with the best way to do the floor, all I can say is that on my F4 is is glassed in and has foam. Main issue is if water gets into the foam you have a very heavy slow boat.

We caught countless small ones and one big enough to keep. Apparently cod are about in winter time around where I am too so I've no doubt we'll give it a go!

the best way for the floor is to use marine ply and Epoxy resin, but its also the most expensive.

You cannot use polyester resin with Marine ply.

I used polyester resin and WSB hardwood ply, its much cheaper and just as good.

Fibreglass the underside first and seal the edges with the same resin mixed with a bit of styrene to water it done slightly.

when it in place lay 3 strips of fibreglass around the outside edges starting from about 150mm wide going down in width.

Then lay a couple of layers of fibreglass on the top . You can manually tear the edges of any joints so that they merge together.

You can then flowcoat the finished product. or use flowcoat with some silicon sand etc to give a non slip surface.

East cost fibreglass supplies are the cheapest by far.

I used a 300m round inspection cover on mine under the splashwell so that I had access to the bilge pump.

we painted the full floor with flexacryl its a flat roof sealant and seems to have worked very well

I had a 30ltr tub laying around , just wanted a good sealed base. also fills slight cracks and discrepancy's
