location for batteries and fuel tank

Hi. Few months ago I bought my very first boat shetland 535 as a project. I need some advice on where is the best place to locate the petrol tank (50litres) and two batteries. Would it be ok to have it all on stern? Any advice is appreciated.

My battery and fuel tanks are all at the stern.
2 of 22 litre tanks and a small battery all under the splash well.

However, they are not greatly balanced. The arrangement does weigh the back end down and the boat takes more effort than it should to get on the plane. My engine is already 110kg so adding another 50kg at the rear doesn't help the weight distribution. In hindsight, it would be far better to mount the whole lot further foward in the cabin somewhere.

Exactly the same setup as bobtooke for me. 2 22 litre tanks, and battery under the splashwell. Also got a portaloo under there as well!

Like he says, the more weight towards the front the better. However, I don't like the idea of putting petrol tanks into the cabin, as I've also got a gas stove in there. Saying that, I've never really had any problems getting the boat onto the plane with all this stuff in the back.

I get quite a bit of porpoising above 27 knots, so I'm planning on moving my two batteries into the cabin, but I think I'll leave the petrol tanks at the back still, not keen on them being in an enclosed area!

Hi I had a 535 with a yam 90 with a whale tail fin on it & it 90l fuel tank behind the seat, to balance the boat the batteries (2x110ah) were located under the seats in the cabin, also was the anchor & chain. The boat was well balanced & fast 37 knots if I recall. I hope this helps.
