Hi All,

I'm the proud new owner of a 2011 F4 Mk8 now called 'Blue Lightning' (named by my young boys!). I'd like to express my gratitude to all the members of the forum for the top content and advice in all things Shetland covered in these pages; it's made my job of buying the right boat much less stressful. I've spent some time on yachts but have no motorboat experience so the info here has been invaluable.

She's come from the canal and we want to take her on the sea so I've fitted a 60hp Mariner 4S, GPS and VHF radio along with an auto bilge pump in the well under the aft seat. We took her out for her maiden voyage on Cardiff Bay yesterday. After pottering around for a couple of hours breaking the engine in gently she managed a respectable 24kts at WOT with 3 adults and 2 kids onboard

As with all boats I've found a few little things that need attention! I'll post some questions in the technical forum.

Mines a mk4 so not as well laid out as yours but they are a cracking little boat, sure we'd all fancy a bayliner or something but for what they are you can't go too far wrong.
