Advice fitting canopy ?

Can anyone advise us with fitting a canopy (from scratch ) please? It's a second hand 535 canopy bought for our 535 boat. I've googled Internet and YouTube to no avail, so any tips or links would be greatly appreciated .

do you have the frame for the canopy?

Yes we have the frame

the frame pivot mounts on the inside of the boat as can be made out in this picture

the front edge of the canopy should mount to the windscreen with either press studs or these

you will be able to tell with what socket is on the canopy at present

once you have the canopy attached to the windscreen you can tension it and the use the bungee tie downs like these

you may also need some press studs on the side of the boat as well

you will be able to tell by whats on the canopy at the moment

Ok - we are still struggling with this canopy
Unsure which way round the frame goes - one bit is solid the other can move up and down..
We clamped the frame on just to test the canopy into rough position ect and found the front and back very tight and the sides appeared loose ?
So not convinced it's a 535 canopy .. (
Does anyone have any photos of their canopies showing where the frame feet are attached ect please ? Also the measurements for a 535 frame.. (I think we need to establish we have the correct frame /canopy for our boat)

Obviously mines a 570 so the dimensions are different

does your canopy have Velcro holders inside for the 2 frame tubes?

you could fasten the frame in these and then fasten the canopy at the back and front.

hold up the frame at the height that would be correct at the sides and try and work out where the fixing point for the frame would have to be to achieve the correct side height


if its miles of then it could be the wrong canopy.


you could always chop some off the frame on the fixed part to drop the sides down as the second frame is adjustable up and down the first fixed frame

Canopy fitted today, still unsure if it's correct for 535 as it is rather low on head height. We have had to temporarily fix the frame on wooden struts. (well below where it should be fixed )
We are praying that possibly the canvas needs stretching alittle ( been in storage for at least 5 years) I have read that they can shrink and need some encouragement to refix ? If all else fails then shall shorten the frame as suggested by Simon in previous reply .. It would be ashame not to 'make do' with this canopy as they are expensive to buy and it would be tricky to sell this one as we don't know which boat it's meant to fit. Will try and attach photos *

looks like a good job to me

there isn't a massive head height on mine either.

the only one very small comment it that on the last picture you have a overhang of about 3 or 4 inches where the sides go under the top

If you repositioned the fasteners higher on the side panels then you could raise the top by the corresponding amount
