535 to 570

Hi I own a 535 and with my 40hp I get about 24 knots.
I have just bought a 570 and plan to put my 40hp on to it.
What kind of speed should I expect with the 570.

I ask because I am considering upgrading to a 50hp

Hi,

You will probably get about 8-10 knots, unless you strip all weight out of the boat and still manage to get the trim right you are unlikely to get on the plane. A 50hp has a slightly better chance but you will be running at full throttle all the time. You would be better looking at a 70hp up.

Been there and learnt the hard way

I initially had a Suzuki 50hp 4 stroke on my 570 and maximum speed was 13nmph with the tide.

its just too small

now got a 90hp yam 2 stroke waiting to finish commissioning.

You ideally need a min of a 70hp to get her on the plane
