Hi All, i am looking at a Family Four with a 30hp fourstroke. Can anyone tell me speed at WOT please? Also
at what speed should it plane??

A Family four should plane at between 14-16mph, depending on loading and trim.
I wouldn't be surprised if you can't get on the plane very often with a 30hp 4 stroke. I only just managed it with a 40hp 2 stroke, much better when I had a 50hp 2 stroke, and great with my 70hp 4 stroke. 2strokes traditionally beat 4 strokes for acceleration for the same hp. With a 4 stroke, 50hp is usually considered the minimum to plane in an F4.

I have now sold my 1989 F4 mk4, 2015 70hp 4str Yamaha. Milford Haven. I proudly owned it for over 20 years, before changing to sailpower and a yacht...
