Shetland 570 max outboard size & weight

We have a Shetland 570 which currently has a Suzuki 55hp 2 stroke outboard which is needing replacing. I have got the offer to purchase a Honda 90hp 4 stroke but not sure if it would be too big and heavy....any ideas?

Think it may be too heavy

When Shetland rated the boat at a max of 115hp 4 strokes were not available, so we have to presume that they were intending it to be based on 2 strokes which are much lighter.

You need to go by a maximum weight of a 115hp 2 stroke and compare this to what 4 strokes weight

I suspect you would be looking around a 70hp 4 stroke as a rough guess.

Thanks Simon, it will probably be a bit on the heavy side then. Just that I've had the offer of this motor at a good price. It's tempting to try it out! Cheers

Our friends had a 90 4 stroke on theirs with no trouble. We had a 70 on the back of ours
