Im new to all this so please be gentle, im not sure if im in the right section so sorry if thats the case
anyway i have two questions first being the type of boat i have ,i was told it was a shetland then told it was something else
and secondly can anyone help me find a hatch for the boat as it blew of[whilst on my driveway] and im thinking the bin men have picked it up and threw away

As your model was built from the late 60s into the 70s, you may have problems obtaining a hatch. Hemmings & Morris are (were) still in business in their original core work as shop fitters. Perhaps they still have some moulds. If not, when I lost my 535 hatch in the big hurricane in the 80s I made one of a single sheet of stainless, bent the corners and just welded the corners up. Later I cut the middle out and put a solar panel in under Perspex. 30yrs later it still looks good and keeps the batteries charged. I will add that the Marina models of boats were good sea boats and, as they were built before the oil crisis, were of heavy construction.

Thought I'd post a picture of my stainless hatch. It's nearly 30yrs old now and could do with a re-polish but is still charging the batteries. Best of all, its simple to make, just needs the corners welding up with stainless wire mig.
