Registering my boat

Hi All
Can anyone point me in the right direction to register my boat
I bought it last year and the old chap i bought from has moved away so i cant get a purchase receipt
i have a copy of an "official number" hin/cin number but i dont know how to go about this
any help and advice will be most helpfull

You dont ned to register your boat unless you are applying for a SSR number. if you are keeping it and using in in UK waters there is no registration.

Hi,
Do you mean registration in general, or for a specific purpose? Loch Lomond has a registration scheme, as do some waters in the Lake district, and Inland waterways controlled by the canal and river trust need a licence and safety certificate. Some harbour authorities have harbour dues or fees to pay to cover the maintenance of facilities and bouyage. You may need to show 3rd party marine insurance to use the above types of facilities, in case you spill gallons of oil or crash into someone.
Just buying a boat for personal use in coastal waters of the UK needs nothing more official than you sitting in the boat saying it is yours.
