Mould and dampness in my shetland 535

Hello all,
I have just joined..I own a Shetland 535 and love fishing on Lough Derg,Ireland where I live.
My main problem is I have the boat moored in water and have noticed that the cabin has loads of condensation and mould has started to grow..this has been cleaned off now but how do i deal with the condensation?Help!!!

Condensation can be a problem. Ventilation will reduce it, and insulating the cabin will reduce it further. I have seen carpet as used in vans used to good effect. This is a special carpet that stretches two ways, so it can be stuck onto irregular shaped surfaces. Good ventilation should be your first option.

Has your boat got an air vent in the cabin roof? I changed mine for a solar powered fan vent with a rechargeable battery built in. It cuts down the amount of condensation, even when sleeping on board. The battery needed replacing after about ten years when it stopped holding charge, but even with a faulty battery the fan ran in daylight.
