Ladies and Gentlemen

It is with regret that I announce that I have to retire as ADMIN. I took over in 2008 when the previous creator of the site died. I just could not see all the valuable I:formation gathered here just disappear into the ether.

As most of you know I am not IT trained in any shape or form and it has been a huge learning curve. Today we have an active site with over 1500 members but I must hand the reins over. My husband I have decided to relocate to France to enjoy Our dotage.

So I am looking for a new webmaster. The server contact runs out in ……….. and I will not be renewing it. I am happy to transfer the site and domain name and train up any one of you who would be happy to take over from me. It does not take up much time other than a quick daily log in. Of course, if you take over you will be free to develop the site in any way you seem fit.

You may need a,little word press knowledge and/or PHPBB knowledge but it’s not hard.

let me know if you are interested, it would seem a shame to see this site disappear for good.

Sorry to hear this Sue but I understand. It's not just the time and effort, it's also the domain registration and hosting costs. You haven't gone for advert revenue, good, I wouldn't either but it exposed you to costs that I can't see being met by the current funding model.

This really must have been a labour of love.

My first degree was in Computer Network Engineering, I have experienced of starting up a resident's association website... but I can't really justify the time and expense (also I refuse to sign up for a PayPal account). Another option would be asking for volunteers to pay to park to park the domain for a few years (and save a backup of the website), in case someone else comes forward later. I would contribute to this.

But most important, enjoy your retirement, you earned it. We only get one life.
