Sealing the rubbing strip. F4

Hi All,
My 2010 F4 has been out the water for several months. Checking the under floor rear drainage plug I got a couple of pints of water out. The windows have been resealed last year so they are fine. I don't think the anchor locker is at fault but I will fit a cover soon.
This leaves the join between the hull and topside covered by the rubbing strip.
I really don't want to renew the rubbing strip yet.
Any thoughts on sealing the top edge of the rubbing strip with a colour match marine sealant as a shortish term measure.

Hi - I did my 4+2 a while back and posted what needs doing. Straightforward job but needs to be done carefully. The leak is between the hull and superstructure so the rubbing strip has to come off. I don’t think sealing the rubbing strip will help unless it’s made different to mine. I did one side at a time so it stayed in the right position. Here’s the link

Yes, not something you’d want to tackle on the water. Mine was a bit of a sieve when I got it. Is the water clean or rusty? Just when I thought it was all done I found the bow rail fixing was leaking. Tiniest movement was enough to let water drip in and stain my lovely new lining . Might be worth checking cleats or anything drilled into the gunnel. Joys of older boats I’m afraid!
